Based on the best-selling book by Cheryl Strayed and adapted for the stage by the
Academy Award nominee Nia Vardalos, Tiny Beautiful Things personifies the questions
and answers that the pseudonymous “Sugar” published online from 2010-2012.
When Strayed – a struggling writer – was asked to take over the unpaid position of advice
columnist, she used empathy and her personal experience to help those seeking
guidance for obstacles large and small. Tiny Beautiful Things is a play about reaching
out when you’re stuck, healing when you’re broken, and finding the courage to take on
the questions that have no answers…
Tiny Beautiful Things runs March 1-3 and 8-10. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays
at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm. Due to sensitive content, this play is recommended for ages 17+.

HONORING THE PAST, CELEBRATING THE PRESENT, AND EMBRACING THE FUTURE
As The Blue Slipper Theatre commemorates 6 decades of artistic excellence and community
engagement, we invite you to join us for a special evening of celebration, reflection, and
anticipation. Our 60th Anniversary Celebration will be held on March 23, 2024 at The Elks
Lodge.
6:00-7:00 PM The festivities will kick off with a cocktail hour, featuring an array of
delectable appetizers and opportunities to mingle with fellow theater enthusiasts and
supporters. Guests will have the chance to reminisce about cherished memories and share their excitement for the impressive milestones yet to come.
7:00 PM, we will gather for a sit-down dessert accompanied by a champagne toast. It will be a time to raise our glasses in celebration of the countless individuals who have contributed to Blue Slipper Theatre’s success over the past six decades.
The program for the evening will include:
– A special scene from “A Mighty Man is He,” the first play presented by the Park County
Theatre Guild in March of 1964, paying homage to our humble beginnings and the visionary
leadership of our founder, Don Johns.
– A heartfelt tribute to Gary Fish, a beloved member of The Blue Slipper Theatre community
whose passion for the arts and unwavering dedication have left an indelible mark on our
organization and the lives of those around him.
– Reflections from past performers, volunteers, and patrons, highlighting the impact of The B.S.T. on our community and the enduring power of live theater to inspire, entertain,
and unite.
Tickets for The Blue Slipper Theatre’s 60th Anniversary Celebration are available for $15, with
proceeds supporting our ongoing mission “to entertain, educate, and enrich the community
through the performing arts.” We invite you to join us as we celebrate the past, embrace the
present, and envision a future filled with endless possibilities.

Acclaimed novelist, outdoor writer and publisher, Allen Morris Jones will read from his debut poetry collection, Mumblecusser. Jones lives in Bozeman. He is the author of the novels, Last Year’s River, A Bloom of Bones, and Sweeney on the Rocks; the highly influential examination of the ethics of hunting, A Quiet Place of Violence; a Spur Award-winning children’s book, Montana for Kids: The Story of Our State; and co-editor, with William Kittredge, of The Best of Montana’s Short Fiction. He has published more than 100 short stories, articles, essays, and poems. A former editor of Big Sky Journal and an acquisitions editor for the Lyons Press, he is the publisher of his own small book house, Bangtail Press, and he has appeared as a guest essayist on Jim Lehrer’s “PBS NewsHour,” lectured to the Outdoor Writer’s Association of America…
Of Mumblecusser, Jones writes, “These poems as far as I can tell now, are about late-life fatherhood, they’re about aging and mortality, they’re about trying to see clearly. They’re about trying to discover what I think. They’re exercises in self-pity and self-absorption. They are coins tossed off the back of a train. … They’re doorstops you trip over and Rorschach oil spills you slide across. Most of all, though, they’re the rubberized ceiling straps you grab onto when the bus lurches away from the curb.”
Elk River Books is located at 122 S. 2nd St. in downtown Livingston. The free event begins at 7 p.m., and a book signing and reception will follow. For more information, send an email to call (406) 333-2330.
