Two Weeks Left to Apply for FEMA Individual Assistance

Helena, Mont. – Montana residents with uninsured losses resulting from June’s severe storms and flooding have until August 29, 2022 to apply for FEMA disaster assistance.

Homeowners and renters in Carbon, Park, Stillwater, and Yellowstone County can apply for FEMA assistance online at disasterassistance.gov, by calling 800-621-3362 or by using the FEMA mobile app. If you use a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA the number for that service.

As of August 15:

• FEMA has approved over $2.3 million in assistance to individuals and households.
• The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved more than $7.7 million in disaster loans for homeowners, renters and businesses.
• The National Flood Insurance Program has received 103 claims and paid $3.2 million.

Disaster Recovery Centers in the following locations can help with applications and provide face-to-face information and guidance about disaster assistance:

• Yellowstone County, United Way of Yellowstone County, 2173 Overland Ave., Billings, MT 59102. Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday – Saturday (closed on Sundays).
• Carbon County, Fromberg Methodist Church, 14 Montana Ave., Fromberg, MT 59029.
  • Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday – Friday.
  • It will be open on Thursday, August 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will permanently close at 5 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022.

 

Long-term, low-interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters, businesses, and nonprofits from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) may be available to cover losses not fully compensated by insurance or other sources.

Homeowners and renters should submit an SBA disaster loan application even if they are not sure they will need or want a loan. If SBA cannot approve your application, in most cases you will be referred to FEMA’s Other Needs Assistance program for possible additional assistance.

August 29, 2022 is the deadline to apply to the SBA for physical property damage. The deadline to apply for economic injury is March 30, 2023.

SBA is operating Business Recovery Centers (BRC) where applicants can meet with SBA representatives and get help applying for any of SBA’s low-interest disaster loans. BRCs are open in the following locations:

• Park County, Gardiner Community Center, 208 W. Main St. Gardiner, MT 59030. Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday – Friday.
• Park County, Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center, 303 East Park St. Livingston, MT 59047. Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday – Friday.
• Park County, Super 8 Motel by Wyndham, Conference Center, 303 East Main St., Cooke City, MT 59020. Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via the SBA’s secure website at disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/ela. For more information or assistance with SBA disaster assistance please contact SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. For people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, please dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.

Livingston Open things to do 2022

 June 23, 2022 – Park County Flooding Update

Evening Update:

• Silver Gate water has been deemed safe for consumption by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality.  Homes, restaurants, and other structures that are connected to Gardiner’s public water supply can resume normal use.  Structures connected to private wells should follow Health Department guidance.

• Point of Rocks Bridge on 89S is OPEN. Guard rails are still under repair.
• Cinnabar Basin Road will be closed to all traffic, including locals, as repairs are made from 7am-4pm Monday-Friday next week.
• Green waste from the flood will be accepted only at the Chico green boxes this Friday 06/23/22 from 10am-4pm until further notice.
• The 89 North Highway bridge is safe for travel but its status could change depending on any future movement on the train bridge.
• A Gardiner Multi Agency Resource Center (MARC) will be this Saturday June 25th at the Gardiner School from 2-5pm.   County residents can be connected with relief organizations for help.
• Flood Recovery Information Guide is being distributed county wide.   Digital copies can be found on the flood Facebook page as well as the Park County website.   This guide will help walk residents through the recovery processes.

Water Update
If you are on a private well and have questions about water safety or testing, please call the Park County Health Department 406-222-4145.

 

Flood impacted residents in Park County are strongly encouraged to fill out a Personal Property Damage Form as soon as possible. Data from this assessment will be used to determine potential eligibility for additional resources through federal or state channels. This survey will be important for determining what types of assistance programs may be available to residents. The more self-assessments that can be completed, the better the state can coordinate available resources. All homeowners, regardless of the level of damage, are encouraged to fill out the self-assessment here or by using camera to scan the QR code (to right).
