FREE COMMUNITY EVENT: Join us for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Miles Park Band Shell in Livingston. This annual community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, and more caring places to live.
National Night Out is an excellent opportunity for residents to meet and engage with their local first responders and law enforcement officials. Come out to participate in various activities and get to know your neighbors and the dedicated individuals who serve and protect our community.
Delicious Food: Enjoy mouth-watering burgers from Bad Burger and refreshing treats from Rolling Cones Ice Cream, both available on-site for purchase. Family Fun: Kids will love the bounce house sponsored by Livingston Recreation and Livingston Fire & Rescue. Interactive Activities: Take your chance to dunk a Livingston Police Department officer in the dunk tank! Games and More: Engage in a variety of demonstrations, activities, and games suitable for all ages.

Bozeman-based public radio producer Chérie Newman visits Elk River Books to discuss her new memoir, Other People’s Pets: Critters, Careers, and Capitalism in Yellowstone Country, on Thursday, July 25. “When most of her freelance income disappears during the recent world-wide shut down, Newman falls back on an old skill: pet sitting. But she soon realizes that everything has changed. The town of Bozeman has changed. She has changed… Many of her new clients are self-centered and thoughtless. Most of the pets are unruly and needy. After a few crazy experiences, she begins to wonder if she should continue accepting critter sitter gigs. But then she has to face the hard truth: She needs the money.
Newman is a writer, musician, audio producer and editor. For 12 years she worked at Montana Public Radio, where she created hundreds of programs, news stories and podcasts. She has recorded interviews in studios located in Bozeman, Missoula, Spokane, Billings, Burbank and Los Angeles…

The Depot Festival of the Arts is back! Enjoy Fine Art, Crafts, Food and Fun! Festival hours on July 2 &3 are 10am – 6pm, then on July 4 hours are 10am – 5pm. The Festival of the Arts showcases fine artists and crafters from Montana and the western region into the juried show. Vendors will present oil paintings, photography, woodwork, ceramics, jewelry, metal work, apparel, repurposed antiques, stained glass, herbals, toys, and more.
The event also includes a variety of food vendors like mouth-watering bbq, freshly made crepes, tasty burgers, smoothie bowls, stir-fry combos, chocolates, specialty lemonades, flavored ices, espresso and more.
Visitors can also enjoy the adjacent Depot Museum’s historic rail and Yellowstone exhibits as well as this year’s special exhibit “Wondrous West: Art, Tourism & National Pride” May 25 through Sept 7. The curated collection of vintage imagery features advertising campaigns from railroads and travel bureaus spanning nearly a century of America’s romance with Western tourism. The exhibits are open Mon-Sat 10am to 5pm with a nominal admission. Spots are still available for PARENTS NIGHT OUT! Drop your kids, AGES 5 to 11 years, off at the Livingston Civic Center and have a night out or go enjoy the art walk! Participants will have the opportunity to have dinner, watch movies, play games, enjoy sports, and other entertainment, all supervised by our staff! Bring some blankets or your sleeping bag for movie time!
REGISTRATION IN ADVANCE IS REQUIRED to participate. TIME: 5pm to 8pm COST: $30/one child; additional children in same household are $20/each.
Parents’ Night Out offers enrichment and interaction that includes: Quality, age-appropriate programming Variety of toys, games, crafts, movies and other activities Social interaction with kids in the same age group Opportunity to have fun and make new friends
WHAT TO BRING: Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes Bring a water bottle with the child’s name A meal arrangement if there are dietary restrictions and you are not participating in the meal provided by Livingston Recreation Pillows and blanket to watch the movie (Highly Encouraged)
MEDS/OTHER NEEDS: The child participating is responsible for administering any Medication or any other accommodations they may need. Livingston recreation staff WILL NOT be responsible for administering medication.
